Faith-based Initiatives and Neighborhood Partnerships
In this session we will explore how faith-based initiatives can best address and serve the needs and interests of their local community. Faith-based initiatives can help build the capacities of faith-based and neighborhood groups so that they have the ability and understanding of how to form private and public partnerships and actively compete for local, state, and federal funds .

Your Neighborhood and Key Stakeholders
Knowing one’s neighbor can help solve their community’s challenges. In this session we will explore community trends according to one’s zip code and by utilizing the U.S. Census American Community Survey Statistics. Participants will be exposed to Asset Mapping techiques to help identify the strengths, resources and key stakeholders within their community. Once community strengths and resources are inventoried and depicted in a map, you can more easily think about how to build on these assets to address community needs and uncover solutions.

Cultural Training as a Tool for Strengthening Communities: 
Culture isn’t just a list of holidays or shared recipes, religious traditions, or language; it is a lived experience unique to each individual. To truly engage our community, we must reach out to them in ways that are culturally and linguistically responsive and appropriate, and we must examine the cultural assumptions and stereotypes that may hinder interconnectedness and our ability to create and deliver the apporiate programs and services that meet the needs of our community.

The 21st Century Church
In the 21st Century the old order gives way to the new. The Next Church is a reformation of church life, one that transcends denominations and the bounds of traditional churchly behavior. This session examines how independent and entrepreneurial congregations are adopting new forms of seamless multimedia worship, round-the-clock niches ministries of work and service, spiritual guidance, and creating a place to belong online and offline and how these strategies are drawing lots of people, including many individuals with patchy or no histories of churchgoing.
